So what have we got here. God makes this absolutely fantastic creation, hugely complex and wonderful, with order and beauty unimaginable. He makes man, of all the creatures, to be lord over the whole of the rest of creation. Its a big job and a high honor but he gives us everything we need to do it. The main thing we have is Himself to save us from the death sentence under and enmity towards His LawWord, which is His character writ large. With Christ we are reconciled to God and are now free to be the lords of creation under Him, that is, in enthusiastic conformity to His will and character.
This is what men want from women; men want their wives to be in enthusiastic conformity to their will and character. If the man is not himself in enthusiastic conformity to God, then his rule is no longer benevolent but tyrannical. Likewise if the woman decides she will not be in subjection to her husband then being under a righteous husband will seem tyrannical and intolerable. If both despise Christ and remain in rebellion against God as the ultimate source of authority then God places them both under Satan who destroys them thoroughly thus clearing the way for God’s Kingdom to be worked out in history.
That is the program. Now we just have to get with it or get out of the way.
