The outcome of this battle is sure but not the timing. It may take generations, even centuries to defeat the power of the monogamaniacs. Their power is built upon 1600 years of false teaching and the twisting of the clear meaning of Scripture.
Why is it so important to the enemy that a man does not provide for and faithfully serve (as Christ served us) more than one wife at a time?
Strict monogamy serves to compromise the authority of men and to effectively geld them in their own marriages and homes. Like a Border-Collie is born to herd sheep so are godly men born to have dominion, be fruitful, and to multiply. It is the same compromise to say to a general that he may only have one colonel, or to a rooster that he may have only one hen, or a stallion one mare. It stifles all their god-given instincts. These instincts are compromised in man by his sinful nature and further by this sin-born man-made restriction on the number of wives a man may have. When a man is redeemed and his nature reshaped by the Holy Spirit through the preaching and teaching of all of God’s LawWord he is still finds he cannot be fully what he is meant to be. In our monogamaniac culture he is then put under the severest temptation to immorality. This is all highly desireable for powers and principalities who at war with God’s order.
What of women? They are made by God to be the wife of one man and to help him in his calling. As it is many woman cannot find a man to faithfully husband them. They go through multiple men or do without. When they do have a man he is often only half a man, a girlie-man. They just hope he does not get more pedicures than she does or spends more time on his hair. Girlie-men (aka. metrosexuals) do not have dominion given to them by God. They cannot protect you from Osama or Obama and they will not go into a burning building to save anyone. The monogamaniacs create this situation and then lament their lack of real man.
Monogamaniacs have been taught that there is a single pre-ordained principle that all else must conform to: polygyny is the prime moral evil. They approach Scripture with this principle firmly programmed into their genes. Naturally, their reaction to even the broaching of the subject of polygyny is one of horror and revulsion with a very strong instinct to pick up the nearest movable object, or even a gun if it is handy, and to dispatch it in the direction of the offending party. The shrillness of their mania knows no bounds as they pronounce damnation on all who have ever dared practice such evil, including all the patriarchs of Scripture. If such a response could be triggered by say, abortion, that vile practice would be expunged from our society in a matter of days.
Thus the exponent of new covenant patriarchy must go into the fray fully aware of the likely response, which may be life-long and bitter regardless of the exemplary quality of the man’s character. He must be fully armed with Scripture and know his apologetics (defenses) on this issue by rote as the attacks, when they come, will be fast and furious. It would not hurt to have a thick skin and a means of escape nearby as well. I would suggest a helmet but that might be awkward.
We must persevere, however, due to the command of Scripture to take dominion, be fruitful, and to multiply (Gen 1:28) and to give every Christian woman a husband (I Cor 7:2). Anything else is a doctrine of demons (1 Timothy 4:1-3).
