New Covenant Patriarchy

New Covenant Patriarchy and the Division of Labor

Outside of theonomic polygyny men have two basic choices: 1. Have big brass ones and be self-sufficient, or 2. Be virtually castrated and cooperate with others under a nanny state.  Many swing in frustration from one to the other.

Home Depot is a phenomenon that can be attributed to the truth of the above statement.  If I want an addition on my house I would normally hire this work out to an expert in building additions.  I do what I do very well and a builder does what he does very well.  We should trade services.  But we don’t.

The nanny state requires that I charge double for my services and give half to the state.  Same with the builder.  So I pay double and the builder only gets half.  No wonder we are a nation of “do-it-yourself-ers.”  The state does not tax you to work for yourself.  So you end up climbing unprofitable learning curves that lead nowhere.  “Yep, now that I am finished I could do it again in half the time and with a lot less waste.”  So we are forced to rob ourselves of the benefits of the division of labor.

Either way we are frustrated in being unable to exercise dominion and end up living lives under a lot of stress.

Theonomic polygyny overcomes this in the home and shows the way for other relationships as well.  In a polygynous home the husband is submitted to God’s LawWord and teaches it and models it to his wives.  They do the same to their children.  Submission to God’s LawWord provides a context of authority that is not onerous but loving and completely in-sync with our God given natures, giving of oneself for the good of others.  As in the larger economy, bearing one another’s burdens is much easier than bearing your own alone.

We all live in two contexts: the home and the world.  In the world we are highly specialized in order to be productive.   In the home we have the same duties as every father and husband.  But there is a chance for a division of labor with our wives.  With one wive you have a great benefit – a 50% or so division of labor.  With more than one wife in the home you all have that much greater room for specialization in work and attention to children and help in the crises of life. The reality and the benefits of this economy make a theonomic polygynous household a truly blessed place.

Thus, within true Biblical Patriarchy, men can have big brass ones and all the health, and material, and spiritual benefits of being manly men as well as have all the benefits of a full division of labor that is profitable and peaceful and blessed for all.

I am a prisoner of this hope and work to its realization. Please join us in this Godly endeavor.
